今日は曇後雨。昨日触れたISTタイプとINTタイプの差を、外向的なETJタイプも引き摺っている様子だ。早速、「人間x人間 セルフヘルプ術」を覗いてみよう。
- [ESTJタイプは]人付き合いも伝統と慣習に従って臨む。人間関係を円滑にする方法やルールを作って和をもたらし、不平不満が出ない様にする。家族の伝統行事も大切で、喜んで参加する。特に友人や昔の同僚、親戚達に会う機会のある送別会、ピクニック、祝日のパーティー、結婚式等の行事が大好きだ。
- ENTJ型にとって配偶者あるいは親としての役割は重要ではあるが、強いキャリア指向の為、それらの役割は、後回しにされる事も多い。ロマンティックな恋愛や理想的な相手を求める等と言う事には余り関心がないのだ。······ENTJ型の男性は、パートナーが自分と同じ程度の学歴と社会的教養を持ち、地域活動等に熱心である事等を要求する。
上の記述に見るESTJタイプは文句なく社交的な人柄である。これに比べENTJは外向型であるから、INTJやINTPに比べ非社交的ではないが、それでも恋愛に興味を持たない等、人生の私的な部分を何処かに放擲しているかの如くである。特に考えないといけなのはENTJがパートナーに「地域活動等に熱心である事」を望んでいる箇所。この調子では、ENTJタイプは地域活動に熱心だから、パートナーにも付いて来る事を望んでいる、のではなく、仕事に疲れ果てて地域活動なんて到底、考えていられないからパートナーに押し付けようとしている、と考えるのが自然だ。なお外向型のNTタイプに関しては、Keirseyのホームページ

にもこんな記述がある。
- The Fieldmarshall [=ENTJ] is not "extroverted" very much, and the Inventor [=ENTP] is even less. Sure, both the Fieldmarshal and the Inventor can be "gregarious" or "not shy", in fact they can be sometimes overbearing. They are usually pretty friendly at parties and open to people to some extent. Although they don't have to be. Moreover, if Fieldmarshal is finding a particular person "boring" (and that can be in a few seconds) he quickly will find any excuse to exit the scene very quickly or rake the person over the coals, so to make sure that person realizes he is not considered worthy. So the Fieldmarshal is an "extrovert" with a purpose (they are pragmatic -- their sociability is often contingent). Sometimes that purpose can be very narrow, such that the common notion of "extrovert" is not well suited for the Fieldmarshal. Same is true with the Inventor. The Inventor often appears like an Artisan Promoter, always interested in having an "interesting" time. Only the difference is the Inventor is "looking" for new experiences, new ideas, or some way to promote his ideas, so those who don't help in this endeavor are quickly cast off. That is, the Inventor is an "extrovert" with an interest (outer-directed might be a better term), and that specific interest often being so narrow that the term "extrovert" is misleading. Although in casual acquaintance they appear to be "extroverted."
ENTJやENTPは何らかの目的を持たぬ限り、日常語的な意味での"外向型"にはなれない、とするのがKeirseyの考えだ。ESTJやESTPに対してはこうした記述はない。最後に、L.Thomsonにも、NTタイプがより思考型的に見える、と思っている雰囲気がある(Personality Type、Shambhala、1998)。
- Of all the types, ENTJs are probably most inclined to separate the cerebral from the feeling level of life.
- They [ITPs] need to be part of a process --- the dialogue between a situation's structural potential and its material realization. One can see this more clearly in the INTPs, because Intuition pushes them to explore the idea of structural potential in its own right. This is why such types seem more conventionally rational than the ISTPs. Such types will talk about the relationships between form and context, and they'll wrestle with its implications by way of architecture, design, systems analysis, or the physical sciences.
上はENTJ、下はINTP。cerebralやrationalはSTタイプよりもNTタイプに似合う、とでも言いたげだ。
